The company created and patented the Rolscreen insect window screen that rolls out of sight when not in use. The company changed its name to Pella Corporation in 1992. It remains headquartered in Pella, Iowa.

Pella manufactures wood windows and patio doors in Pella, Carroll, Shenandoah, and Sioux Center, Iowa; and Macomb, Ill. Fiberglass and vinyl products are manufactured in Murray, Ky. Vinyl windows and patio doors also are manufactured in Gettysburg, Pa; West Columbia, S.C.; and Portland, Ore. Entry door systems are produced in Fairfield, Ohio, and Wylie, Texas. EFCO, a Pella Company, is headquartered in Monett, Mo.

In 1992, Pella entered the national retail market with windows and patio doors, adding select lumberyard distribution in 1994. Today, select Pella products are sold in U.S. and Canadian building-material retail stores.

In 2001, Pella and Lowe’s introduced the Pella Design Centersm (PDC) to mainstream market customers. Located exclusively at Lowe’s, the Pella Design Center is a “store-within-a-store,” containing product displays, staffed by Lowe’s associates.

Pella has been an Energy Star partner since 1999. In addition, Pella is a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA).

Pella Corporation is a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency‚ (EPA) SmartWay Transport Partnership program. Pella received the accreditation for its responsible management of transportation partners and private fleet and committing to improve the environmental performance of freight operations.

A collection of historical Rolscreen Company/Pella Corporation records is available for research use at the University of Iowa Libraries.

Public involvement

Pella Corporation has been involved in local and national community and charitable works since 1952. The Kuyper Rolscreen Charitable Trust was established in 1952 by Pete and Lucille Kuyper. It was reorganized in 1968 as the Pella Rolscreen Foundation. The foundation's primary focus was supporting education, community betterment and giving; Matching Gifts, which was added in 1984.

Pete Kuyper shared a primary interest in supporting education, especially for Pella's Central College. Now, the foundation has funded grants and scholarships for sons and daughters of team members for over 300 students in higher education.

Pella also shares updates and news via the Twitter social networking site.
