Pelland was named after the logging settlers who came to the area from Quebec, Canada in the mid 1800's and is known locally as Pelland Junction or the "Y". The Rainy River was used to transport wood products. Many Pelland families still reside in the area and in Northern Minnesota. Logging continues to be a Pelland tradition and long standing family business.
