, Aguilar received the keys of the city of Los Angeles, as previously had been his father. An estimated of 20,000 people attended the ceremony.

His style reflects his music. Aguilar has worked with mariachis as well as symphonies and his traditional stage attire is a ‘charro’ (rodeo) outfit complete with cowboy boots and hat while his closet includes plenty of button-down shirts and suits.

In 2007, Aguilar sang the Mexican national anthem during the pageantry of the Super-Welterweight showdown between Oscar De-la-Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in one of boxing's largest audiences of all time.

To celebrate this and share yet another aspect of his life with his fans, Aguilar is breaking into the fashion world in 2009 launching his Pepe Aguilar Signature Collection through WSS (Warehouse Shoe Sale) retailer in the United States that will later expand to include a clothing and accessories line for both men and women.

In addition, his dream of helping his native Mexico in some way has given way to an eco-friendly agricultural project in which Aguilar will strengthen and promote the organic production of crops in communities in Zacatecas, utilizing traditional or technology that will have a positive impact on the environment.

With over 16 studio albums plus multiple compilations to his name and millions of records sold, Aguilar’s most recent, Homenaje, pays tribute to the original “Charro de Mexico” (Mexican Rodeo Star): his father, Antonio Aguilar. The album contains 13 songs of the most popular hits made famous by the singer who died in 2008.
