Peringammala means Big Mountain. But the root of this word comes from Periyamala.
Peringammala is located in the suburb of Ponmudi hills. In olden days this land gives lots of honey and honey products. That's why the name of this land formed as Periyamala. The majour population of this land is tribal people. Tribes are good farmers. Peringammala panchayath is the second largest panchayath in Kerala state, India. Peringammala panchayath is one of the best tourist place in Kerala
This is my small initiative to collect general details of Peringammala panchayth. Peringammala panchayath consists of two villages namely Peringammala and Thennoor. Peringammala panchayth is the biggest panchayth in Thiruvananthapuram district. This is only in aspect of breadth. The population is very less. As per official kaneshukumari it is very less than 50000. Even the nearest panchayths holds far more than this as like Nanniyode panchayth and Vithura panchayth. The number of tribal people holds the major share of population. Agriculture is the common job.
