He was honoured with numerous awards in Canada, USA and Europe: The "Max Kreise Award, International Institute of Education", "New York – Award for research excellence for international students in the USA", "Graduate Research Fellowship Award in the Humanities", McGill University, Montreal, and the "Scholarly Achievement Award", Carleton University

Bruck has also worked as a media educator, broadcaster, producer and announcer in many countries and has over 20 years of professional experience in consulting in the area of communication and information technologies in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, the US and Canada.
Bruck has founded and served as the Director of the Centre for Communication, Culture and Society at Carleton University (1985–1990) and has been senior consulting partner in ICRA - International Communications Research Associates, Ottawa, Canada (1987–1995). In Europe, he headed the international Research Program in Economy and Future of the Print Media initiated by the Austrian Association of Newspaper Publishers and funded by the Ministry for Science and Research (1990–1993).
As Academic Director, Bruck founded the University Applied Arts and Sciences for Telecommunication, Multimedia and Information Management in Salzburg (1995–1998) and started in 1996 Salzburg Research Forschungsgesellschaft m.b.H., the official research organisation of the State of Salzburg in 1998. Bruck was CEO and served as Head of Research till January 2001. From 2002 to 2008, he was general manager of the Research Studios Austria

).
Here, he started in cooperation with Sun Microsystems
(Palo Alto, CA) the SUN Technology and Research Excellence Centre on Multimedia and Java Technologies (1997) with the focus on optimisation of multimedia middleware and distributed computing and won the competition for the Austrian Industrial Centre of Excellence in Multimedia with the Salzburg NewMediaLab (1999/2000).
Bruck has been appointed Honorary Professor of Information Economy and New Technologies at the Institute of Economics, Faculty of Law, at the University of Salzburg (since 1994) and Adjunct Research Professor of Communication at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada (since 1993).
He has consulted public and governmental bodies in Europe and North America, including the Department of Communications on Broadcasting Policy (Canada), the Canadian Information Highway Advisory Council, the INFO2000 Program of the European Commission (Senior Experts Committee), the ACTS-Advanced Communication Technology and Services Program (Vision Group) of the EU, the Austrian Ministry for Science and Research, the Austria Ministry for Economics, and the Austrian Government (chancellors office) and Parliament on Issues of Media Concentration and Regulation, the Bertelsmann Foundation
on New Media Order, the German State of Saxony on Information Society Development, the Polish Parliament (Sjem Committee) on Media Diversity and New Broadcasting Policy, the Parliament of Sweden on Diversity Policies, the Open Society Institute
of the Soros Foundation Network on Electronic Publishing in Central and Eastern Europe. In the US, he has advised the State of Indiana (USA) on Information Economy development initiatives and the MIT Media Lab
on creating a European branch. On the international scale, Bruck is an advisor of the United Nations Information and Communication Technologies Task Force and the Global Alliance for ICT and Development(since 2006), a consultant to UNIDO for developing local e-content and e-learning sectors in Africa and an advisor to UNESCO
on uses of technology enhanced learning.
Private industry clients included leading companies in the broadcasting industry (CBC, Ottawa; ORF, Vienna; YTV, Toronto) the print media (VÖZ, Vienna; Bertelsmann, Gütersloh; Ringier,Zurich; FAZ, Frankfurt; SN, Salzburg, ZVB-Mediaprint, Vienna) the energy and telecommunication sector (Verbund, Vienna; Telekom Austria
, Vienna). He is on the board of industry bodies including IEPRC and ACM. He has worked in new media related issues also with VOLKSWAGEN AG, Wolfsburg, and ASTRA-NET/SES Multimedia in Luxembourg. From 2001 to 2003, Bruck worked in the industry and acted as the Chief Content Officer of the Austrian Telekom Group.
