Peter Morley was educated at Oundle School
and Cambridge University which he left after a year to run his father's drapery business. He later qualified in Personnel Management, eventually becoming Personnel Director of Tesco
. His daughter's interest in football caused him to attend football games as well, and he became a season ticket holder at Crystal Palace, and then a Vice President.
After Chairman Mark Goldberg
fell into financial ruin in 1999, and the club into administration, Morley was appointed temporary chairman. He stayed in this role until the summer of 2000, when Simon Jordan
took control of the club.
Jordan allowed Morley to take the role of President thereafter, and he still holds that role to this day.
