Although having taught himself to play bass at an early age by listening to bands such as The Stranglers
and Siouxsie and the Banshees, Wilkinson soon took an interest in jazz
and went on to tour the jazz scene around Manchester, Liverpool and North Wales and gained a college diploma in the genre before coming to the realisation that he would never be able to move out of the small clubs he was already playing whilst playing jazz.
In October 2002, Wilkinson released a solo album "Huxley Pig - Part 1" through The Viper Label
under the guise of Aviator. A follow up was planned, but has yet to be released.
In 2005 he rejoined the reformed Shack, who have since released 2 albums on Noel Gallagher
's record label "Sour Mash".
Wilkinson currently composes and performs music for TV commercials.
Cast are to reform for a UK tour in November 2010.
