There were 69 households out of which 52.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.0% were married couples
living together, 7.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.0% were non-families. 11.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.33 and the average family size was 3.62.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 38.7% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 111.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.4 males.

The area is named for Peter Maughan
early Mormon settler and church leader. Located outside of Mendon historically the area has been closely tied with the cultural and religious communities located in the nearby town. Each year residents of Petersboro participate with Mendonites in their May Day celebration.
