. Prior to 1974, it was part of Aldridge-Brownhills Urban District. The area was predominantly developed for private housing in the 1930s and completed after the Second World War. During the Second World War, some houses that were already constructed, were requisitioned by the War Office

 for use by American troops who stayed there until after the war. The earlier houses are very similar in construction to the adjacent areas of Birmingham which were built as Council Housing and though private were sold to industrial workers of north Birmingham. The Pheasey estate once urbanised completely, consisted of both private and municipal(council) houses that were built in completely different styles. Nowadays council owned houses on the estate are almost non existent, having in the main been purchased by the sitting tenants at reduced prices. Barr Beacon
