Phil Reitinger

Phil Reitinger was the Deputy Under Secretary of the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) and Director of the National Cyber Security Center
(NCSC) at the United States Department of Homeland Security. Reitenger leads the Department’s integrated efforts to reduce risks across physical and cyber infrastructures and helping secure federal networks and systems by collecting, analyzing, integrating and sharing information among interagency partners.
Prior to his nomination, Reitinger was an executive with Microsoft
with the title of Chief Trustworthy Infrastructure Strategist, or CTIS. Prior to joining Microsoft, Reitinger was the Executive Director for the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center
.
On September 6, 2011, Reitinger joined Sony
as it's Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer. On October 11, 2011, Reitinger took full credit for finding and resolving the latest in a series of attempted breaches of the Sony Sony Entertainment Network, PlayStation Network and Sony Online Entertainment; however, reliable sources within Sony soon posted information on several websites confirming that he had no technical understanding of the breaches, much less actual involvement in dealing with them. Mr. Reitinger is rumored to have been hired as a "figurehead" for Sony to pacify the company's insurers and regulators. His operational experience in dealing with information security breaches has yet to be proven.
