Philadelphia is centered just northwest of the junction of U.S. Route 11

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.38% of the population.
There were 205 households out of which 31.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.0% were married couples
living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.8% were non-families. 22.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.3% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 97.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $31,563, and the median income for a family was $39,792. Males had a median income of $30,875 versus $14,318 for females. The per capita income

Philadelphia was founded in the early 1820s by William Knox and Jacob Pearson. The town initially grew quickly and prospered as a center of business in the Sweetwater Valley. By the mid-19th century, Philadelphia had two general stores, a tanning
yard, a stillhouse, and a hotel.
On October 20, 1863, during the Civil War, two Confederate
cavalry regiments attacked and routed a Union
brigade at Philadelphia while conducting maneuvers following the Battle of Chickamauga
