at the Conservatory of Nice
. He also completed an additional conducting
studies. It was followed by further years of study at the Vienna Academy of Music which he completed in 1988.
Philippe Auguin was an assistant to Herbert von Karajan
for three years, before working closely with Sir Georg Solti. He then conducted several well-known orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Dresden Staatskapelle and the Orchestre National de France
.
Like many of his colleagues, he also conducted many operas in the most famous opera houses (La Scala
, Covent Garden
, Bavarian State Opera
, Metropolitan Opera
). At the early 1990s he was the principal conductor of the Stuttgart State Opera, from 1994/95 - General Music Director of the Staatsorchester Braunschweig
. In 1998 he was the Music Director of the Nuremberg
Opera.
Philippe Auguin was invited to several major festivals, such as Salzburg Festival
