Lore
The name, "Pinconning," purportedly comes from a local Indian phrase, "o-pin-nic-con-ing," which translates into English as, "potato place." However, there is an alternate interpretation, as "little potato." Both come from the many small, wild potatoes that grow in the region along the Saginaw Bay.See also
