, the city has a total area of 2.1 square miles (5.4 km²), of which, 2 square miles (5.2 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square mile (0.258998811 km²) of it (4.37%) is water.

Temple (who was part owner of the mill) bought out the interest of the other owners, and established the Temple Lumber Company. The residents of the town voted in 1941 to become incorporated.
