 word for 'cage') is the tragic story of a school teacher and a dancer. The 'cage' here is a metaphor for life. The dancer dies as she falls for the teacher & is unable to save him. The teacher prefers to die under mistaken identity rather than live as a man who has lost respect. This is a story of how death bails them out of their cages.

) gets every man in the village smitten. The teacher is righteously infuriated by lack of people's morals. He vents up his anger on the dance group in form of a speech by demolishing there temporary dwelling places and ask to get away from village.

The dancer is hurt by this and decides to take revenge. Gradually, even adult school students start bunking the school to see Tamasha. The teacher decides to confront the dancer. After her performance, he decides to meet her. During a performance she gets badly injured and in humanity and humility guruji medicates her. In this period he gets trapped in cage as prey of lust that he had never encountered until then. Horrified by the realization of what he is doing, he asks to keep it a secret.

Later, son of landlord (Bajirao) who is against teacher finds teacher daily visiting Chandrakala. He calls his father (landlord) and all people to check it. But they don't find guruji at dancer's place. Guruji is deeply hurt as he deceives villagers by this act. Bajirao, angry with this tries to frame guruji in a molestation case. But in fights, a villager (milkman) who tries to save guriji, is murdered by Bajirao. But as the blame would come on guruji Chandrakala asks him to flee away from village. She also misguides villagers saying that the murder victim was, in fact, guruji. The dancer decides to keep teacher as tamasha worker in disguise. Here he learn to drink and eat tobacco. As police investigation proceeds, the teacher gets arrested for his own murder.

After realizing that she has brought a good man to her level and is solely responsible for whatever happened, she decides to make amends. She meets teacher in police custody and ask to confess that he is the teacher and not a murderer. But the pious teacher tells her how people love his thoughts, his acts and how in his memory they have built a statue of his. He decide that he is the culprit who deceived villagers and hence should be punishable. But in a twist of fate, while telling truth to judge Chandrakala loses her voice in the court and the teacher is sentenced to death.

While listing judgement of death sentence dancer get shock and dies on the spot. The teacher says that whatever happened to him was for good.
