The Pink Triangle on Twin Peaks is a fabric installation, representing a pink triangle
and covering 1 acres (4,046.9 m²), placed during Gay Pride Week by the volunteer group Friends of the Pink Triangle. The Friends have placed a giant pink triangle on top of Twin Peaks
—a mountain in the center of San Francisco—on every Pride Parade weekend since 1995.
The Pink Triangle on Twin Peaks started out as a renegade crafts project, assembled under cover of darkness as protection from police
notice. The project has now grown into something large that is appreciated enough for the mayor and many of the city's other elected officials to acknowledge and celebrate. The project has been officially embraced by the city.
On June 28, 2009 at 5 am, police and firefighters found that a section of the triangle measuring about 25 feet (7.6 m) by 30 feet (9.1 m) had been burned. An investigation was opened to determine if this was due to arson.
