Praveena is a Malayalam film & Serial actress. She starred in numerous Malayalam movies & Serial. She Started her acting career in the year 1992 as a Child Artist. Her debut film was "Gowri" as a Child Artist. Her Debut film as a heroine was "Kaliyoonjal" in the year 1997. About

Praveena, Frizzy hair, expressive eyes, a big smile, oodles of talent and a flair for humour. For Praveena, the road to Mollywood was a smooth ride. Her roles in films like `Agnisakshi,’ `English Medium,’ and `Vasanthiyum, Lakshmiyum, Pinne Njanum,’ made her a star.

Yet, there is a feeling that this talented actress has not get her due in tinsel town. However, Praveena avers, “I have got the roles I have dreamed of, and in that way I am very lucky.”

More than the big screen it is television that has given Praveen scope for displaying her prowess as an actor. Serials like `Swapnam,’ `Meghom,’ `Swaram,’ and the recent `Mounam,’ on Soorya has made her household name.

And it was on the small screen that this actor and singer made her debut. After acting as a child artiste in an adaptation of T. Padmanabhan’s award-winning novel `Gouri,’ she appeared on Doordarshan for a music-based programme called `Sapthaswarangal.’

In fact, Praveena shifted to the city from Chagnasherry to do her graduation in music from Government Women’s College.

Her programme on Doordarshan caught the attention of film producers and soon offers started pouring in. Her first film was Anil Babu’s `Kalioonjal,’ in which she was paired opposite Dileep. In quite a few films (`Oraalmathrom,’ `The Truth’ and `Ezhupunna Tharakan’), she enacted Mamootty’s sister.

The State award came her way for her work in `Agnisakshi’ and `Vaasanthiyum Lakshmiyum.’

“During the shooting of `Agnisakshi,’ I developed a camaraderie with Shobhana and realised that we had many interests in common.”

“It is indeed an experience to act with senior artistes. I just have to behave naturally and not act.”

After her marriage in 2000 to Pramod, an officer in the National Bank of Dubai, Praveena stayed away from acting for quite some time.

“But as an artiste, acting is the best field to shine, where one can attain wealth and fame, yet maintain your dignity,” she says explaining the reason for her comeback.

Praveena has dubbed for Jyothirmayi in `Ente Veedum Appunteyum,’ for Kaavya Madhavan in `Mizhi Randilum’ and `Sadanandante Samayam,’ and for Padma Priya in `Amritham.’
