The Prince Edward Island general election, 1947, held on December 11, saw the best showing by the CCF in its history running on PEI. The CCF even finished in second place in 4th prince, due to an extremely controversial Conservative candidate. That Candidate would take less than 100 votes, and was, and remains the least popular Conservative to run for office in the province's history. Due to the increase in third party support, the Liberals were able to win the election with less than a majority of votes cast, something that only happened one other time in PEI history, in the Prince Edward Island general election, 1996
