Prosenjit Kundu

Prosenjit "Tony" Kundu is an American dancer, dance teacher and choreographer primarily in the styles of hip hop, house, bboying, locking and popping. Having danced professionally since 1998, Prosenjit Guy Kundu has been actively involved in the Urban Dance Scene for 2 decades. Born in France, Prosenjit, who is of Bengali-Indian and French descent discovered the art of freestyle hip-hop dancing in 1990, at the mere age of 15. Two years later at 17, he stumbled upon a D.C. house club by the name of Trax and fell in love with the energy and flow of freestyle dance. On turning 18, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA where he acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance and Choreography. By day, he formally trained in the dance forms of Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap and African at VCU and by night he was pursuing underground dance styles such as Break-dancing, House, Hip Hop, Popping and Locking at local underground clubs. After his schooling, he moved to New York City to fuel his fervor for dance and to mold his visions.

On moving to the Big Apple in the summer of 1998, Prosenjit began teaching classes in urban dance styles at New York University, Fashion Institute of Technology, Peridance Center, Crunch Fitness, NYSC and studios throughout Manhattan while simultaneously working as a professional dancer.
Some of Prosenjit’s credits include: Krs-One, Anastacia, Deborah Cox, Ashanti, Fantasia, Faith Evans, Tony Moran, Madonna ARK Charity Event 2007, Saturday Night Live, Cirque du Soleil, ABC Dance Fever, Nike, Garnier Fructis, 7up, Tic Tac, The Love Guru, Japan/Korea World Cup 2002, Deborah Cox Promo Tour, Rennie Harris Pure Movement, Marlies Yearby Brown Butterfly, Ron Brown Evidence, Radiant Baby Off Broadway Musical with George Wolfe, Victor Manuelle at Carnegie Hall, AR Rahman Jai Ho WOrld Tour, etc.
Continuing to excel as a dancer in the industry, his teaching skills have taken him across the globe from countries like Spain, England, Italy to Malaysia, India, Canada and U.S.A. Prosenjit also moved to India for a period of his life and is the first person to introduce these styles, teaching dancers and kids for free, just to plant the seed. Kundu considers himself to be a dance nomad, travelling the globe to teach, perform, learn and grow as an artist from his multicultural experiences. His focus at this stage of his life is travelling and teaching/performing in as many countries as the world has to offer.
Currently, Kundu is teaching in Mumbai
