As all Danish State Archives its primary purpose is to collect, preserve and archive historically valuable records. The archive accept archival material from state authorities, local authorities and individuals within the geographically area of the former Funen County

History

The archive opened 1. November 1893, as the second of the three provincial archives envisioned in the first Danish archive law of 30. March 1889. The first visitor came two weeks later. Today the yearly visitors amount to 10.000. The archive magazines stores currently around 20 km of archival material.
