Public Order Ordinance

The Public Order Ordinance is Chapter 245 in the Laws of Hong Kong, whose purpose is the maintaining public order through the control of assembly, procession, and demonstration, limiting people's freedom of expression.
China considers the 1995 version of the regulations to contravene the "Basic Law", so the Chinese-controlled Hong Kong Provisional Legislative Council
repealed some provisions in 1997, and re-enacted others that are inconsistent with the "Convention", including the procession and assembly system to a notice "no objection notice" system.
In the 2005 WTO meeting, the Police referred to the Ordinance to arrest nearly a thousand protesting South Korean farmers in Hong Kong, but afterwards but no one could successfully convicted.
