The Puerto Rico Ports Authority is a public corporation created by the Legislative Assembly of the United States' Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to develop and operate ports and airports within the Commonwealth. Governed by a Board of Directors whose members are appointed by the Governor of Puerto Rico
with the advice and consent
of the Senate of Puerto Rico
, its day-to-day operations are under the charge of an Executive Director, currently Alvaro Pilar.
The PRPA operates several ports, including the Port of San Juan, the commonwealth's largest, and the ports of Fajardo, Ceiba, Yabucoa, Aguirre, Guayanilla and Arecibo. It also owns the following airports:
