. It was originally a joint-venture between PT Multimédia, Lusomundo

 and the Radiotelevisão Portuguesa. In 2003 it was completely acquired by RTP, and with the merger between RTP and Radiodifusão Portuguesa (RDP), forming Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, it became RTPN in 2004.

RTPN debuted a 24-hour schedule on September 29, 2008. Until then, RTPN simulcasted with Euronews

 during the early morning. Since mid-2009, RTPN became available outside Portugal, through cable TV providers in Angola

. On September 19, 2011, RTPN was renamed to RTP Informação, beginning with a simulcast of Bom Dia Portugal which refreshed its graphics.

The channel produces news output and factual programmes for RTP1, RTP2 and RTP Internacional
