Rama Krishna Sithanen GCSK
MP
is a former finance minister of Mauritius and vice-prime minister of Mauritius and has held the office between 1991 and 1995 when Sir Anerood Jugnauth was Prime Minister and from 2005 to 2010 Navin Ramgoolam

On the eve of the normination date for candidacy at the general elections for 2010 ,Sithanen receive the news that he will not be given candidacy for Finance Minister .He being an economist by profession refused to be a candidate for another ministry .He refused the option given by the leader and Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam
.On the April 17, 2010 ,Ramgoolam presented his 60 candidates and Rama Sithanen was not nominated .Despite this Rama Sithanen will therefore leave office on the 6th May 2010 ,just after the general elections .

and received the grade of Grand Commander and therefore use the prefix Hon. and post nominal GCSK.
On 2010, Rama Sithanen did not receive any constituency to present himself from the Mauritius Labour Party, thus he could not run as candidate for the 2010 general election and as such not re-elected as minister.

Background and education
Dr Sithanen comes from a modest background, due to poverty he was forced to abandon school to work at an early age. However, later on, young Rama took back his studies and went to London School of Economics to read economics and completed a Bsc (Econ) First Class Honours and a Msc (Econ) with distinction.Honours
