History

RM 2886 was established in 1963 with its current northern terminus (though at the time, this was signed as US 290) and southward 7.8 miles. In 1967, this route was extended south another 10.4 miles, and in 1968, it was extended another 3.0 miles south to an intersection with Harral Rd. It was extended southward again in 1973, 1982, 1983, and 1987, reaching its current southern terminus in 1992.
