Rangfarah is the only indigenous religion of Tangsa
community of Arunachal Pradesh
.The concept of God was dormant in Tangsa community for centuries. Christianity was the only religion people adopted by this community. Many ignorant people of this community were forced to adopt Christianity by insurgencies like NSCN,which threatened people of dare consequences if they don’t convert to Christian. Christian missionaries have virtually succeeded in many societies of this community to establish Christianity by persuading or forcing people. Lately, people started to realize the consequences of spread of orthodox Christianity
, which have forced people to abandon their age-old traditions, rituals, habits and practices; It has forced people even to avoid its only major festival Moh-Mol. Fear started to prevail in some people of the community as the community was at the verge of losing its religious and traditional identities so it became essential to reintroduce the age old indigenous faith, Rangfraism into community to counter the conversion. After reintroduction of Rangfraism, many people started to realize its importance and have started to revert back from other religions. Some societies of this community have Christianity as major religion. The political campaigns in these areas are done in the name of religion. In some churches, people are told to vote the candidate from the same faith as commanded by their pastor, irrespective of qualifications and capabilities of the person contesting the election. The ignorant people blindly obey their pastor’s commands without even realizing the importance of their votes and the dealings done by the pastor with the political groups for his own interest.
The major communities worshiping the Rangfarah are Muklom
, Lunchangs, Juglis, Tutsas and Kimsings. Most of these villages have a temple known as Rangnuwk hum
meaning God's worship place. Every year on December 31 people goes on processions to stop the conversion which is increasing exponentially in the state. These processions are organised by a community called the Indigenous Faith community of Arunachal Pradesh, which creates awareness of consequences of religious conversions in various parts of Arunachal Pradesh
