In 1982, Gooding joined Plymouth Argyle
but after only seven games he ended his career with a cruciate knee ligaments.

's managerial period. Gooding and Money succeeded in developing a Coventry youth team capable of making two FA Youth Cup
finals.
On 8 September 2008 Gooding joined Money again, this time at Newcastle United
