When the Little Rock, Mississippi River, and Texas Railroad was being built during the years of 1880-1881, it missed Red Bluff by four miles and the citizens moved to the new town of Redfield which was named for J.E. Redfield, president of the Little Rock, Mississippi River, and Texas Railway Company.
