The borough is located along Pennsylvania's Bucktail State Park Natural Area

, which winds through the surrounding mountains following the West Branch Susquehanna River
. The town is also the home of the "Flaming Foliage Festival" held each October, generally in the second weekend, that celebrates the glorious fall colors of the area's mountains. The festival includes a parade, a queen is chosen (usually from one of the nearby high schools) and crowned. The festival serves as a 'homecoming' event for former residents of Renovo, many of whom return annually for the event.

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.38% of the population.
There were 593 households out of which 29.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 35.4% were married couples
living together, 15.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 43.7% were non-families. 38.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 21.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.22 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the borough the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 20.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 93.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.7 males.
