He joined Oldham Athletic in September 2007 . He was appointed the club's vice-captain at the start of the 2010-11 season and then promoted to club captain after the departure of Sean Gregan

At the end of the 2010-11 season he was offered a new contract by Oldham but it was announced that despite receiving an additional offer, he had decided not to accept the deal and he left the club in June 2011.Reuben Hazell has recently joined Shrewsbury Town FC ahead of the start of pre-season training on a 2 year deal. He was injured after a few months at Shrewsbury as Rene Howe of Torquay united committed a petulant,needless unprovoked kick at the back of Hazell's leg which eventually resulted in him damaging knee ligament. This raged the Shrewsbury fans at Howe
His uncle is the former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Queens Park Rangers defender Bob Hazell
