Film hardly set the world on fire when released in theatres in May of 1991, suffering from bad marketing campaign and, as a result, "suffered some of the lowest grosses for a film released in a thousand theatres."

Reviews were scarce and largely negative. Film critic Rita Kempley wrote "Schoelen, who has the personality of coral, and Paul, who makes musical inspiration look more like hepatitis, make boredom seem a reasonable alternative."
