) was an American Impressionist painter who was a member of the Hoosier Group
of Indiana landscape painters.
He moved to Norwalk, Connecticut
, in 1910. He was self-taught and the only one of the Hoosier Group painters without European training. He began by painting portraits and domestic interiors before turning to landscapes.
