The evil alien Ro-Man Extension XJ-9 (who is simply called "Ro-Man" by the humans) has destroyed all but eight humans on Earth with his "calcinator death ray." The survivors consist of a family of five, a scientist, and two unseen assistants to the scientist in a spacecraft bound for an orbiting space platform carrying an also-unseen garrison of human soldiers.
I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot!
Your people were getting too intelligent. We could not wait until you were strong enough to attack us; we had to attack you first.
The child is impertinent.
I will re-calculate. Your deaths will be indescribable.
