History

Originally built in 1933 as Rothwell Grammar School to serve the needs of children in Rothwell and the surrounding areas of south Leeds. In 2008 the school moved into a state of the art £27 million building.

Inspections

In February 2008 Ofsted Inspectors ordered a Notice to Improve due to the school receiving Overall Grade 4 (Inadequate) from Inspectors.
In a recent Inspection 2008, Inspectors found the school had improved in all areas required and called for a continuation of the improvements stating "They could not have done any more to improve the school in the time available."

Buildings

In September 2008, Rodillian moved to a newly built School as part of the Leeds BSF Project. At the new school are lecture theatres and a large library. Also the school has new sporting facilities including fitness centres, gyms, dance halls and PE Classrooms. As part of the build is a Children's Centre that allows 0-5 year olds to use the school's sporting and educational facilities.

Rugby

The school's main sport is Rugby League, through the years the school has built highly successful rugby teams. In recent years the 03-08 year and 05-10 year have dominated the Leeds Rugby League competitions. Academic performance

The school's academic performance has improved greatly over the last 4 years ensuring that pupils life chances are massively improved. Rodillian has excelled in recent years improving exam results from 19% 5A*-C including English and Maths in 2007 to 49% in 2010 and 48% in 2011. The school has also improved its percentage of pupils gaining 5*-C from 35% in 2007 to 87% in 2011. At A-Level student performance is graded as an ALPS of 2, equalling the teaching of A-Level to some of the best nationally. Recent Results.
