Part of Rodopoli has retained its old village character, while its eastern (and higher elevation) part has seen the development of higher quality residential properties. Its building regulations ensure the conservation of its character as a pleasant, purely residential, green community, with only a handful of small shops. Rodopoli is on the western/northwestern edge of Mount Penteli

Until the 1980s, farmlands covered the southwestern part of Rodopoli, while the remainder was covered by Aleppo-pine forests. New building development started in the 1990s, with most of the population now being urban. Housing development continues to this day.

Rodopoli has one first-grade school, one high school, two churches, one square ("plateia"), but no banks nor a post office.
