Roger Berry is a former American
figure skater
. He competed in ice dancing
with a number of different partners. He had his greatest success in 1967, when he finished second at the United States Figure Skating Championships
with Alma Davenport. They went on to place 9th at the 1967 World Figure Skating Championships
.
He later competed with Gaie Shoman, whom he married in 1969. Berry turned professional in 1969 in order to take a coaching position.
Berry was from Los Angeles, California
and attended Hollywood Professional School
. He came from a skating family. His father, Ernest Berry, was one of the first elite competitors from California, having won the Pacific Coast senior men's title in 1938.
As of 2009, Berry is on the coaching staff at Valley Ice Center in Panorama City, California.
