The biggest eruption occurred on 4 August - 25 September 1928 which was due to the tsunami
and earthquake
. The population of Palu'e island was 266 people at that period.
The last eruption occurred on 23 March 1985 whereby the ashes spread 2 km away although no casualty was recorded.
On 16 January 2005, there was sign of eruption, causing the mountain to be placed under alert status.
