The Roman Catholic Diocese of Florida is a diocese
of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic church
in Uruguay
. The diocese was erected in 1897 as the diocese of Melo from the diocese of Montevideo. In 1931, the name was changed to the diocese of Florida-Melo. Finally in 1955, the diocese was split into the Diocese of Melo
and the Diocese of Florida.
The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Montevideo
.
The current bishop is Martín Pablo Pérez Scremini , who was appointed in March 2008.
