Additionally, the school tied three others for 15th place on the Reading section, took 20th place in Mathematics, and tied one other school for 13th place on the Writing section.

Band

The Rome High Marching Band is known as the "Sound of the Seven Hills". In six competitions between 2006 and 2007, the band was named Grand Champion four times and took third place twice. The New York Times has called them a "role model for all high school bands". The band is no longer even ranked. They have not won a competition since the 2007 season. Recently, however, the band has come strides in skill and performance. They have performed in their first competition of the 2011 season and missed Grand Champion by .8 points.

Chorus

The Rome High Chorus has grown imensly over the past 7 years. Going from one choir that performed class C making ones at festival to having three choirs performing in classes A, B, and C. All choirs make perfect ones in all overall categories and in most subcategories. They have competed and won competitions in Florida, Georgia, and Ohio. They have many extracariculars including an a capella choir that competes in ICHSA, a Girl's literary trio that placed first in state in 2010 with Anna Stuart, Jerica Maisonet, and Hannah Campbell, A Boy's Quartet that placed first in state in 2008 with Charlie Langois, Andrew Smathers, Caleb Lewis, and Beb Poplin, A Girl's sand Boy's soloist that have placed first regionally multiple times and have come as close as second in state. The many accomplishments of the Rome High School choir with their director, Mrs. Jennifer Williams, speak wonders for talents and abilities.

Drama

The Drama depeartment at RHS is also International Thespian Society Troupe #1492. The Department has put on plays such as Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing' (set as a western) to 'Tracking the Raven' which is an original written by their director, Lance Godfrey. One Acts include "A Fairy Tale: Afer the Ever After," "Greeks," and more! Every spring the advance acting class writes a one act to perform at the local elementary schools. The department has also produced feats such as "Beauty and the Beast," "Fiddler on the Roof," and most recently "Phantom of the Opera." This talented cast and crew have come a long way in their development and the community expects their continuing visually and emotionally thrilling performances.
