at an actors workshop in 1977, and were married two years later. He joined Gail on the Welk show in 1980, along with Michael Redman
to appear as part of the new singing trio Gail, Ron and Mike. The trio was very popular with fans of the show until it ended its run in 1982. Since then, he has continued with his performing career, either as part of the trio, a solo recording artist, or as a substitute game show host.
Anderson is the father of two sons; Grant, who is a successful television producer
, and Jonathan from a previous marriage. He also has two daughters, Lauren and Erin, with his wife Gail. They make their home in Northern California
