Originally called Peterstown, the name "Rosebank" appears to have been first used to denote the neighborhood around 1880. Soon after this Italian

Transportation

Although the Staten Island Railway's Clifton station is further up Bay Street, Rosebank is more dependant on local buses for transportation. It is served by the S52/S78 on Tompkins Avenue, and the S51/S81 on Bay Street.
