of 1086, when it had 11 households, and the Lord of the Manor was King William I.
The church dates from the 13th century, and is a Grade II* listed building dedicated to Saint Margaret. It is built of a "patchwork" of greenstone

and red brick. There is the base of a medieval stone cross in the churchyard, which is both Grade II listed and an ancient scheduled monument.
Roughton Hall is a Grade II* listed building dating from the mid 18th century.
There was a school in Roughton, which served the village and the nearby hamlets of Haltham
