History

. The High School team dropped out two rounds into the season. The remaining teams played a six-round competition, with Rovers winning three and drawing two of its games to become the inaugural premiers of the WAFA. Rovers again won the premiership in 1891, but fell out of form the following season, finishing last. Rovers again finished last in 1893, 1894, 1896 and 1897. The club lost the first eight games of the 1899 season, and were forced to withdraw from the competition, being replaced by First Rate Junior Association side Perth
