Before working as a production designer, Rede worked as a songwriter and record producer. While signed to Kyle Baxter Utley's Flip It Records he produced eclectic tracks featuring Dolly Parton

was the first dance single for Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor
. Rede produced artist Nanci Griffith's controversial Baroque version of her country hit "Gulf Coast Highway" using a full choir and orchestral string ensemble.
In the 1990s Rede designed several national TV commercials including spots for McDonalds, Dr Pepper, Verizon Wireless, and Budweiser Beer. He designed several music videos including Luther Vandross' "Power of Love", Barry White's "Put Me in Your Mix" and Chris Rock's "Champagne". In 1994 Rede moved into episodic television designing HBO's cult TV series Mr. Show

In 2000 he partnered with producer David Meiselman, forming production company Meiselman-Rede Media Group (MRMG). Rede and Meiselman signed MRMG to a five picture deal with distributor CinemaPop, where Rede went on to write and produce the animated series "Paris Falls" and the feature film "El Matadero".
Rede jumped into the reality TV wave in 2005, designing unscripted series including NBC's Treasure Hunters
