.The stadium was built as Jamestown Municipal Stadium, and hosted the Jamestown Falcons in they're time of the minor leagues. It was then dedicated as College Stadium, for the use of JCC's Baseball team. Then the Niagara Falls Rapids re-located to Jamestown, and the new home team was the Jamestown Jammers. Then on the eve of the 1997 Babe Ruth World Series August 9, 1997 and the same day Parks Director, and the person who brought the Babe Ruth 13 Year old World Series to Jamestown, Russel E. Diethrick Jr., was inducted into the hall of fame, the park was named Russell E. Diethrick Jr. Park. The saying was on that night, attendees walked into College Stadium and left Diethrick Park. The park continues to be the home of the Jamestown Jammers.
In 1990, College Stadium was the site of a memorable large-scale stunt by the TV series Candid Camera
, in which a catcher for the then-tenant Jamestown Expos
was put up to calling pitches with nothing but incomprehensible signs.
