Albion

During the 2009/10 season Thomson went on loan to Albion Rovers. He made 15 appearances, scoring 1 goal.

Dunfermline

Thomson's debut for the Pars came as a substitute on 5th November 2010 in a 2-1 defeat at Morton. He began to make more regular appearances from the bench towards the end of the 2010/11 season.

With the Pars promoted to the SPL, Thomson has continued to make appearances from the bench, and he scored his first goal for the club away to Kilmarnock in a 3-2 defeat on 10th September 2011.
