The School of Engineering is one of the eight academic units
of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville
. The 190000 square feet (17,651.6 m²) Engineering Building houses laboratories for research and instruction for the school.

All programs through the School of Engineering are accredited by nationally recognized accrediting bodies.
The School of Engineering also administers the Environmental Resources Training Center (ERTC) and Southwest Illinois Advanced Manufacturing Center (SIAM). Additionally, the National Corn to Ethanol Research Center (NCERC) is housed in University Park on the SIUE campus.
As a leader in Engineering education in the Midwest, the SIUE School of Engineering hosted the Global Conference on Educational Robotics (GCER) in July 2010, which attracted attendees from middle and high schools from around the world.
A plan to build an addition to the Engineering Building is in the works. According to the SIUE Facilities Management website:
Engineering Building Addition
The design for the engineering addition has resumed. The architects have been interviewing staff and faculty to determine their needs and are now developing more detailed concept drawings of the proposed addition. Currently, it is planned to have the project bid in the early summer of 2011 with construction completed in time for the fall semester of 2012.
