 in 2004, USINDO (The United States-Indonesia Society) decided to help by establishing a high school which then called SMA Laboratorium Unsyiah or SMA Labschool.

SMA Labschool was inaugurated on 27 July 2007 by the rector of Universitas Syiah Kuala, Head of BRR Aceh-Nias

Learning-teaching system

Labschool Unsyiahgenerally implement a Learning and Teaching system which is different from any other High School in Aceh. One of them is 'moving class' system. Moving class is a system which the process of teaching and learning performed by student dynamism. Students of SMA Labschool are required to transfer to another class by each time their class is finished. Thus, it create a dynamic environment in which create different surroundings everyday; as the result, prevent students to be bored with static atmosphere in school.
SMA Lab School Unsyiah implements 2006 competency-based curriculum (KBK), which is enriched and differentiated by observing dynamism of students' individual development corresponded to a multi-talent environment of students in high school level. It develop a stability and balance between intelectiality, emotionality, and spirituality which cultivated by an effort to foster a more creative, varied, and progressive National Curriculum.

School hours

Classes are conducted from Monday to Friday on 7.45 AM until 4 pm. Whereas on Saturday, students are required to attend some elective extracurricular activities.

Sports club

Boys Basketball

Labschool Basketball team was officially formed in 2008. The formation of this first official team was led by Agung Dwi Satriawan.
Highest achievement of the first team was to be the 4th in a inter-high basketball competition hosted by SMAN 7 Banda Aceh in 2009. Labschool lost when competing the title of 3rd winner to SMAN 1 Banda Aceh, after winning over MAN Model Banda Aceh, 20-0. Although this first team didn't achieve many things, it is believed to inspire the next generation team led by Faizin Risa. Until now, Agung Dwi Satriawan is still popular among Labschool ballers as founding father of Labschool's basketball.
