Hardware

The SPA3102 has:
  • One RJ-11 POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) Foreign exchange station (FXS) port.
  • One PSTN Foreign exchange office (FXO) port.
  • Two 100BaseT RJ-45 Ethernet ports.


The two Ethernet ports are to be used to act as a router between a modem and an internal network. The device can also be configured within an internal network by connecting only to the WAN Ethernet port.

Uses

The SPA3102 can be used in several ways:
  • To connect an analog phone to a VoIP service provider and a landline simultaneously. This permits:
    • Calls incoming from either to be answered.
    • Emergency calls to go through the landline.
    • The landline to be used automatically if the VoIP service provider is unavailable.
  • To connect a landline to an Asterisk (PBX)
