SSN School of Advanced Software Engineering in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University offers for the first time in India: Carnegie Mellon's Master of Science degree program in Information Technology with specialization in Software Engineering, Robotics Technology, Embedded Systems and Software Management.
It is a one and a half year full time residential program. The first year is offered in SSN School of Advanced Software Engineering.
In this period, the students complete core courses, prerequisites, electives and project work. Experienced faculty of SSNSASE and practicing professionals conduct the courses in the first year using Carnegie Mellon courseware. The faculty of SSNSASE and Carnegie Mellon University continuously evaluate the students.
On successful completion of the one-year curriculum in India, the students get a certificate from Carnegie Mellon University. They can then proceed to Carnegie Mellon University to complete further studies in six months, and obtain the MSIT degree. The coursework at Carnegie Mellon University consists of project work under the supervision of Carnegie Mellon University and two electives.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is established as a full fledged department offering B.E course from the year 2007. The mission of the department is to educate students to become globally competent.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering shares the mission and vision of the institution in imparting quality education to the students. The department has a committed, highly experienced and motivated team of faculty members.
In November 2010, the Shiv Nadar Foundation and Carnegie Mellon University
announced that Carnegie Mellon's undergraduate programmes in mechanical engineering would be made more available to Indian students. Under this partnership, the first batch of undergraduates will begin their studies in June 2011. Students will study in India at SSN following a curriculum designed by Carnegie Mellon and taught by SSN faculty trained at Carnegie Mellon. They will also study at Carnegie Mellon's main campus in the United States in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Admission and academic processes will have the same rigorous standards as at Carnegie Mellon. On completion of the course, students will receive Carnegie Mellon degrees.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering also conducts an annual mechanical engineering national level technical symposium

was started in the academic year of 2004-2005 with a sanctioned student intake of 30 and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. From the academic year of 2011-2012, the sanctioned intake has been doubled to 60.
Currently, the department is headed by Dr. K. Ramakrishnan, M.E (Chem), Ph.D. The total number of faculty members in the department is eight, and the teacher student ratio is 1:11. Three of the faculty members are having Ph.D qualification and three others are pursuing doctoral research programs. The research areas of the faculty are i) Natural product extraction ii) Sol-Gel synthesis iii) Energy Management
iv) Nanotechnology
v) Hydrotropy and vi) Biosorption
. One of the faculty members has authored a book titled “An Insight into Chemical Engineering” which is widely used by chemical engineering students for the GATE. Many faculty members have published more than thirty six research papers in peer reviewed international journals.
The department has about 5400 sqm of carpet area, individual office rooms for every faculty member, spacious class rooms with Wi-Fi connections. Laboratories are equipped with the required experimental facilities as stipulated by the affiliating university. Modern analytical instruments and chemical engineering softwares (ANSYS, Chem CAD) are available for carrying out research program. The Central library has a collection of more than 1000 books on various chemical engineering topics and the department has subscribed for 13 national and international journals. It has access to many e-journals of sciencedirect and springerlink. In addition to this, the department library has about 300 books.
The students are securing 100% result in university examinations with good university ranks. Industrial visits and tours are arranged once in a year to facilitate learning. Students are required to undergo inplant training in process industries as part of the curriculum. Students of third and final year of study are provided training in soft skills and professional and personality development so as to equip them for placement. Guidance is given for competitive exams such as GATE, GRE, etc. The chemical engineering graduates of this institute have got the best placements in the core sector as well as in software industries.
The ACE is a technical organization for effective dissemination of Chemical Engineering. It has been functioning at the premises of SSN from the year 2008. ACE was started by students of Chemical department of SSN. It has organized a lot of seminars and workshops.

Besides fulfilling the requirements of the syllabus prescribed by the University, the program offers students the opportunity to work on diverse hardware and software platforms.
The Department, accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation) in the year 2003, has organized three AICTE-ISTE Short Term Training Programmes, funded by the AICTE and three Faculty Development Programmes sponsored by Anna University as well as one International Conference with all the departments of SSN College of Engineering. It has organized many symposia, guest lectures and CSI and ISTE student chapters. The department is also instrumental in developing and supplying open source software. Established in 1996, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of SSNCE with 30 faculty members and 560 students works closely together in an open, collegial atmosphere. With Anna University's curriculum, the Department places equal emphasis on theoretical and experimental electrical and electronics engineering.The Department has been accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation). The EEE Department has been organizing many symposia, guest lectures and the IEEE Chapter meetings. The Department's facilities include standard laboratories and a seminar hall. So far 65% of the eligible current final year under graduate students have been placed in various reputed companies through campus selection.
The Head Of the Department is Dr.V.Kamaraj The department is also fortunate in having the services of Dr.B.L.Mathur, who has45 years of teaching experience and has written many books in the field of Engineering which are used as textbooks in colleges around the world.And also the services of Dr.Arumugam,an ex-hod of CEG,guindy who has a vast experience in the field of electrical machinery.

The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 1999. The Department with 23 faculty members and 350 students work closely together in an open, collegial atmosphere. With Anna University's curriculum, the Department places equal emphasis on theoretical and experimental Information Technology.The Department has organized Faculty Development programs sponsored by AICTE-ISTE and Anna University. The Department has organized a National Conference on Bio-signal Communication and Networking, NCBCN 2005. The Department has been organizing many symposium and guest lectures. The Department has state-of-the-art facilities for various labs, a Seminar hall and a Department library. The Department has produced 6th Rank in the University of Madras examination held in the year 2003. SSN Department of Computer Science and Engineering
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was established in the year 1996.Besides fulfilling the requirements of the syllabus prescribed by the University, the program offers students the opportunity to work on diverse hardware and software platforms.
The Department, accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation) in the year 2003, has organized three AICTE-ISTE Short Term Training Programmes, funded by the AICTE and three Faculty Development Programmes sponsored by Anna University as well as one International Conference with all the departments of SSN College of Engineering. It has organized many symposia, guest lectures and CSI and ISTE student chapters. The department is also instrumental in developing and supplying open source software. Every year, many students from the Computer Science department join the joint Masters program offered by Carnegie Mellon University and SSN College of Engineering.
Paradigm
Paradigm is an annual national technical symposium organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.It is conducted by the students and the Association of Computer Science and Engineering(ACE) every year. SSN Department of Biomedical Engineering
The college recently started its bio-medical department to provide an undergraduate program in this field. The college has linked up with various hospitals and research centres to broaden the students' experience. The department plans to forge links with international universities for the students to pursue their higher education.
